Oral Tradition PDF Print E-mail
Oral traditions are narratives that are handed down through the generations through word of mouth are the cultural glue of pre-literate societies. Oral history is eyewitness accounts or recollections of individuals, while oral literature is a comment on the contemporary society at the relevant time. This is a simplistic definition and there are many schools of thoughts. For the purpose of this site the material will continue mixtures of both to a degree; the overall goal of the site is to create suitable resources for classroom based resources that celebrate the linkages with the past that oral traditions and folklore offer.
